Hello all,
I’m back! After my 100th blog entry at the end of last year, I needed a little break. It’s time to start writing again!
I hope your new year is off to a great start. So far this year, I’ve been busy with new projects in music, Just a Little Sweat, my career, and wedding planning! I imagine this will be a very exciting year for me and I’m looking forward to sharing with you along the way.
In the meantime, I’ve been wanting to talk with you about my Iontophoresis treatments, but I have held off for a few reasons:
1. I never told you that my hands started sweating again back in October although I continued with regular treatments until December with no results
2. I wasn’t sure if I had become immune to the Iontophoresis treatments or if my machine had stopped working
3. I wanted to see if I could do anything about it
I’m sorry that I never told you about this, but I have good news to report now.
When my hands started sweating again, I emailed Bill Schuler from R.A. Fischer (the company my Iontophoresis device is from). He told me that he had heard of this same occurrence from other customers in the past and suggested that I take 1 to 2 weeks off from treatment and start again. I took the time off, and then started up with the initial treatments in January (every other day for 10 treatments). I am happy and relieved to report that it was successful! I am now seeing positive results from the Iontophoresis treatments and use it once a week.
I wanted you all to know about this in case this ever happens to you with your Iontophoresis treatments. Try taking some time off and start from the beginning again!
When my hands started sweating again, it was really discouraging, especially because it was immediately after I got engaged and people were taking my hands to look at my ring. I was really upset about it and scared. Iontophoresis had been so successful with my palmar HH and I was worried that I had lost the one treatment that had actually helped.
I’m happy I can report good news!
Have a great day and thanks for reading,
Caryn
Hey Caryn, that’s great news! I’m wondering, have you seen any compensatory sweating? I already have such terrible CS that I’m a little nervous to try it for fear that it’ll make the CS that much worse. I’d like to try it on my feet, if that’s possible.
Hello and thank you for your comment! I have not experienced CS due to Iontophoresis. I do sweat on other parts of my body, but nothing has been exaggerated since starting these treatments. I notice that the treatments don’t work as well on my feet, but I think it is because the water line only touches the soles of my feet. My ankles and tops of my feet will sweat a lot, and I don’t really see a difference wearing sandals or other types of shoes. The most difficult part of HH for me is sweaty hands, so I am very happy with the successful results for that. I have coped with my feet by wearing closed toe shoes and socks or peds all the time. I have pretty much given up on sandals. I thought I would miss them, but I am much happier feeling secure in my shoes and socks. I wish you luck in any treatments that you decide to do! I’ve noticed that everyone responds to treatments differently, and it takes a whole lot of trial and error to find what works best.
Thanks for the update, and glad you were able to regain effectiveness! I just started iontophoresis a few days ago with a Hidrex device, so looking forward to hopefully seeing some positive changes soon.
Hey I’m so happy for u and your results. Did u ever add anything to the tap water like baking soda or crushed robinul tablets. I live in Miami, Florida and I have Hyperhidrosis on my hands and feet. I have even posted 2 videos on YouTube about my personal experience on HH. Hyperhidrosis can be a big bummer on a persons life especially when you try to seek help from a doctor and the doctors hardly know anything about the condition and tells me “ah it will just go away in a few years” well it’s been more than a few years
Hi Alejandro,
Thank you for your message! I’ve also had some trouble with doctors not understanding or knowing about HH. I have tried Iontophoresis with baking soda and it has worked well. However, Bill Schuler from the R.A. Fischer company says, “I’m not a big advocate of baking soda unless you can’t get the meter to read high enough without using baking soda.” Good luck, and I hope this helps!
